I have a rover 220 SDI,i changed the nearside wheel bearing yesterday but noticed that afterwards there was a lot of play in the shaft, when i had the hub removed i was able to pull the driveshaft at least 2 inches out and back in, should this be normal or is my driveshaft knackered? How much play should you get from the short driveshaft on car?
that is normal, your drive shaft has to be able to change lengths throughout normal driving conditions. How much play should you get from the short driveshaft on car?
no you have put the bearing in wrong or left a spacer out , this is not a job for a novis yours and other peoples lives are at risk. How much play should you get from the short driveshaft on car?
As matthew h says, this is definately normal, the shaft has to move to allow for movement of the steering etc..
